In response to these challenges, Frascold and Tecnofreddo have combined their technical expertise to develop a high-temperature heat pump designed to merge energy efficiency, high performance and environmental responsibility.

The innovative Tecnofreddo DANAE heat pump was unveiled at the 2024 edition of Chillventa, one of the most prominent international trade fairs for refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump technologies. This major platform offered the perfect opportunity to showcase the unique features of the product, which drew significant interest from industry professionals due to its ability to meet increasingly stringent sustainability and energy efficiency requirements.
At the core of this new technology are Frascold’s semi-hermetic ATEX-HT series compressors, specifically designed to operate with R290 at high temperatures while ensuring maximum efficiency. The result of over three years of design and development and thousands of hours of testing at Frascold’s test bench, these compressors mark a milestone in technological excellence. This achievement has been made possible thanks to the LSPM (Line Start Permanent Magnet) electric motor, which ensures a significant 6% increase in efficiency and combines the benefits of both induction and permanent magnet motors. Designed to meet the toughest demands of the industry, these compressors deliver consistent performance and high reliability even under the most challenging operating conditions.
New frontiers across multiple industries
Specifically, the high-temperature heat pump is designed to operate at temperatures up to 80°C, making it ideal for industrial applications with the added benefits of lower energy consumption and compliance with environmental regulations. Among the sectors that can benefit from this solution are the food industry (in processes such as sterilization and pasteurization), the pharmaceutical sector (for controlled heating applications), and the HVAC/R sector for large buildings and data centers.
A key feature of this heat pump is the use of natural refrigerant R290, which has an extremely low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 3. This sustainable choice reflects Frascold and Tecnofreddo’s commitment to offering eco-friendly solutions aimed at reducing CO2 emissions and meeting global decarbonization targets.
